Children's rights

We've talked about human rights, but also if human rights include children, there are theChildren rights.

Children's rights are like the human rights but with particular attention to the rights of special protection and care afforded to minors.

Those rights had been created by the Convention on the Rights of the Child, and it defines a child as any human person who has not reached the age of eighteen years. Obviously a child is a lot of other things, and they have a lot of needings. So children's right includes right to association with both parents, human identity, as well as the basic needs for physical protection, food, universal state-paid education, healthcare, and a lot more of rights specificly for children.

I consider that those rights are very important, because childs share needings with adults, but they have others that need to a more accurate protection. Is very important to protect chid's lifes, first because they are human, but also because they are the future of our generation.

Freedom of speech

Freedom of speech is the freedom to speak freely without censorship. The right to freedom of expression is recognized as a human right under Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

In my opinion this is one of the most fundamental human rights. I consider that freedom of speech has to exists in all the contries of the world by many reasons.

First of all, if you want to be respectfull withsomeone, youhave to aloud him to express, doesn't matters if you like or not what the other is saying. Moreover, a society in that everyone can say his opinion has as a consequence a society in which there are different ideas that originate a lot of debates ans different points of view, leading society to progress.

Also is important to preserve this right because in many cases is necessary to report agains something or someone and when the reports are agains government for example, if there wasn't this right, our society would ever be conservative and the progress would not be possible.

Altercation in Bolivia

In Bolivia, there has been a protest of disabled citizen. The police used pepperspray and tear gas on them with serious consequences of bolivian protestors, many of them collaped.  There were aproximately 150 activists who make a 230-mile trek to La Paz in order to protest in front of the presidantal palace, but their intennctions were frustated by the police.

They were demanding an increase of their benefits, because they recieve just under 100 pounds a year, and they were asking to recieve at least 50 monthly punds instead.

They have taken extreme measures raise awareness of their plight. Some of the even suspended themselves from bridges, but the government says that a monthly bonus of 50 pounds is unsustainable.

Despite the reaction of the government and the extreme measures taken by police to stop the protest, the government saidthey will talk with the protesters.

Australia's Great Barrier Reef bleaching

In Australia there is one of the most great reserves of coral, the Australia's Grat Barrier Reef. The most untouched par tof it has a severe bleaching, is the most severe bleaching in its history.

There was make a footage, which filmed over 500 coral reefs durig six days, from Cairns to Paupa New Guinea, and this footage shows that the 95% of the coral area is white and yellow.

Scientists say that this bleaching happens because of the rising water temperatures. The reaction of the coral, under stress, drives out living algae, causing it to calcify, and part of that is down to the current El Niño climate cycle.

They say that if the World Heritage Site doesn't get a brak in the weather conditions within weeks, some coral areas are unlikely to survive. The World Meteorological Organisation says a break in temperatures is unlikely, as this year looks set to be the hottest on record.

The Great Barrier Reef stretches 1,200 miles (1,931 kilometres) along Australia's northeast coast and is the world's largest living ecosystem.

Olympic relay torch, and the sense of Olympic Games

This is a ceremony that is done every four years, with the occurrence of the Olympic Games. Is a process in which a flame is lit in the greek hill of Olympia, where the ancient Olympic Games got started in the past, long centuries ago, an it travels all around the world until it arrives to the country in that the Olympic Games take place.

In my opinion this is a very nice event, not only because reminds us the true origins of theOlympic Games, but also because the whole ceremony, and what indeed the Olympic Game are,  is a symbol of human ulnity, a symbol of solidarity, because this ceremony envolves a lot of different contrieswith diverse cultures, but no matters the differences, we all humans share the Olympics in the same measure.

I agree that sport sometimes can stir up a lot of conflict, but in the big events as the Olympic Games is a benefit for humanity because is an event in which the different countries know each other, and as ever promotes the sport, they do it in a respectfull way.

Olympic torch lit

The 4th of may of 2016, four days ago, the Olympic torch begun its journey to Rio de Janeiro. In Olympia, where every year takes place the starting ceremony of the olympics torch relay, there was the opening event in which an actress playing a hig priestess used the sun's rays and parabolic mirror to light the torch, and she also offered a mock prayer to Apollo, the God of light and music in the ancient Greece culture. While she was holding an olive branch, she lit the relay torch held by a Brazilian artistic gymnast.

The "journey" of the olympic torch will last six days, and it will travel around 329 cities around the world before ending at the opening ceremony of the Olympics in Rio on 5th August.

Brazil has to face difficult times, and the brazilian president, Dilma Rousseff, faces impeachment. The crisis has paralysed the country's ability to revive its economy from recession. And there are more problems, for example, preparations for the Games have been had a lot of problems and a shortage of cash.

This is the 80th anniversary of the torch relay, the first one took place ahead of the 1936 Olympics inBerlin.

In the east of Russia, a group of rescue workers braved freezing waters to save four orcas that were trapped in the ice. The orcas got stucked in the ice during the night.

The rescue team took a small boat to reach the whales, that were at 50 or 100 meters away from the coastline. They removed the ice to create gaps big enought to aloud the whales swim throught them. The rescue team was working during several hours and they managed to get three of the four whales, one of those three was a calf, to open waters.

The rescuers stayed with the fourth orca in order to protect it fromthe ice until higher waters allowed it to join the other orcas

Human rights

1.- What are human rights?
Human rights are the fundamental rights that humans have by the fact of being human, and that are neither created nor can be abrogated by any government.

2.-When and why were they created?
Human rights were created in 1945 in New York by the United Nations. They were created in order to examine the underlying basis of the concept of human rights and critically looks at its content and justification. Thee human rights pretended to preserve those elemental things a person needs to live with dignity. Basically they defend freedom, justice and peace.

3.- How many human rights are there?
There are 30 human rights.

4.- Which human rights were you not familiar with?
I was not familiar with human rights like the 15th. one, that says that everyone has the right to a nationality and neither shall be arbitrarily deprived of his nationality nor denied the right to change his nationality, the 17th. that says that everyone has the right to own property alone as well as in association with others and that no one shall be arbitrarily deprived of his property, and the 28th, that says that everyone is entitled to a social and international order in which the rights and freedoms set forth in this Declaration can be fully realized.

Now, I want to talk about the right of freedom to move, that protects freedom of movement and residence within the borders of each state, and the right of leave any country, including his own, and to return to his country.

This is a necessary right if we want real freedom to exist, because no one is truly free if he is obligated to stay forever somewhere. It seems so normal to us, the persons who live in the developed countries, traveling always to different places and go visit another countries. For us there is ever the chance of going abroad if we need or want it, but unfortunately this is only for a small part of human, the rest can not travel anywhere they want. The worse is that is not about a privation of going on holidays, those are people that need to change their lives and they only will have an opportunity in another country.

Officially no one says that people can not travel, so no one can protest against that, because the law will say that is not true that they forbid people to travel. And that is the worse, because there is a detail that makes the difference and is that only people with money can travel. Even if a poor person decides going to live in another country and he decides to do not take any transport (so then he won't waste his money) he would not be accepted in the new country for legal issues. There is a lot of people that has the needing of emigrating but they can't. This is a tough situation and it gets worse when mafias of prostitution and smuggling take profit of this persons offering them a way to leave their countries. Obviously those are very bad offers but those persons have not another option ant take those opportunities that would not take if there really was a real freedom to movement.

Music

In this post I want to talk about the importance that music has in our lifes.

Music is, first of all, an expression of everyone's character and personality, it's a way to understanding our feelings and made it become something we can listen to. Music plays with emotions, with happy or melanconic feelings, music can make you feel exited or serene, among another moods. Music is usefull also to connect a group of persons between them, or make us forget temporally our problems. Sometimes it also helps us to affront this problems and not only to avoid them. Sometime a nice song is the only thing able to make a bad day become bearable.

Well, I think it is a very important part of our lifes, also if we don't realize that and instead of that we consider music a common thing, when in fact is one of the greatest things we have, because it will walk with us all along our lifes.

New ways of leisure time

Nowadays, with the progress of technology, our ways of living have been affected and had suffered a lot of changees. One of them is that now, a lot of people has the  chance to say something and be listened by lots of persons.
The first thinck that appeared was the TV. Now the people, specially the youth and the children dedicate most of their spare time to YouTube or Internet in general isted of TV. This is an important change, because, also if it can same similar, YouTube has only a few things in common with TV. The main difference is that on the Internet people can say what they want, or almost that, because you are the only responsable of yor acts and in the TV programs there is a very strict way of acting and the shows they offer have not the freedom that Internet offers. So that's a positive thing because the persons who offer entretaining and humoristic content will follow their own rules and in consequence their creations will be better and more original. This new kind of entretainment estimulates more the creativity and above everything the factor that makes it an attractive point is that there is a huge diversity of content.

In conclusion, I thinck that the classical ways of entretaining are changing and evolving and everytime there are new possibilities.

Strange sports

In the world there are a lot of sports. Many of them had becomed famous, such as football, swimming, baseball, volleybal, etc. But there are also a lot of unknown and are minority, but between them there are ones that are really originals or weird. Those are sports that don't seem nothing serious, but most of them even have a World Championship, and they also are older than what one imagines.

Those are my top three strange and unknown sports:

In third place there is the sport called "Wife carrying", originated in Finland. This sport needs the participation of a lot of teams of two persons. Those teams are couples and the man has to carry his woman (or girlfriend, because is not required to be legally married) on his back and run through obstacles along the way. The rules are that the team who finishes faster the course wins, but if the man drops his partner, five seconds will be added to their time.
I thinck this sport can seem a bit chauvinist, but it's also is true that the couples have to cooperate and understand each other if they want to win, so it can be interesting and funny.

Resultado de imagen de Wife carrying

In second place I put the sport called Cycleball. This sport is a competition between teams of two, played on bicycles with no breaks. The goal of the players is to get the ball into the goal using only their wheels and their heads, they cannot use the hands, exept when they are deffending.
I's similar to football, and it has to be impractical to have a bike disturbing you, because is difficult to score a goal inly using the wheels instead of your own foots. I tried something similar to that with some friends when I was little and it was so fun, but I thinck that is better have balls and bicycles separated, because they don't combine especially well.

Finnally, the first one is Underwather Hockey, a sport in which two teams compete to manoeuvre a puck across the bottom of a swimming pool into the opposing team's goal moving it with a kind of pusher. Is so similar to hockey, but in this case in very important the apnea, that alouds you to be underwather more time and that gives you an important advantage. I've seen people playing this sport a lot of time in the swimming pool and maybe one day I'll try it, bot only for have fun, bacause I thing that swimming is a better way to use a swimming pool.

A new discovery of the past has been found by the archaeologists. The discovery was a medieval ship from a Dutch riverbed where this piece of history had lain beneath for half a millennium and no one had noticed it until now.

The ship was discovered by some construction workers during an underwater investigation whilst preparing to excavate the port. The vessel is believed to have been a trading ship, used to sail the Baltic and North Seas. The wreck was Built with metal joints, and is strudier than a lot of other contemporany finds.
They encased the ship, that is so big (20-metre by 8-metre) in a specially constructed metal frame, raising all 40 tons from the water with the help of experienced divers, and the delicate remains will be kept at the Newell and Heritage Centre in a specially designed station keeping it wet at all times.

Technological conflicts vith Apple

This new is about how technology is affecting our society. With the fact that explains this news we see the real huge power thw technology companies have, that is that big that can deny the FBI requests.

The Apple boss Tim Cook, In an interview on the ABC News with David Muir, has hit back the FBI over the handling of the court order to help unlock the iPhone of San Bernardino killers Syed Rizwan Farook and his wife Tashfeen Malik.

The Apple chief defended the company’s decision of do not comply with the FBI's order to remove security blocks on the attackers' device, and he did it by comparing the change on software the FBI was ordering to a disease.

“The only way know would be to write a piece of software that we view as a sort of a software equivalent of cancer. We think it is a bad news to write. We would never write it, we have never written it. And that's what is the stake here.

If we knew a way to get the information on the phone, that we haven't already given, if we knew a way to do this, that would not expose hundreds of millions for other people’s issues, we would obviously do it.”
Conflicting polls suggest the American public's divided, but Cook is remaining firm on his position.

Amazing Wingsuit competition!

This is a Wingsuit competition called "The Red Bull Aces". At this competition, 40 competitors flew 2.3 kilometres above ground level at speeds of up to 257 kilometres per hour, obviously this sport is only practiced by a very specific and reduced group of people, this sport is not for everyone.

To win the contest, four flyer heats race through a slalom course of 112-foot (34 metres) pylons hanging from helicopters.

The winner of the second edition of this competition was Andy Farrington and he was from America. With the results he got, America defended his title from last year's competition, winning in only a 4/10 of a second margin

With speeds of up to 160 miles per hour (257 kph), this sport is certainly both dangerous and exiting!

Playing chess in cold-water. Crazy! (frozen body, and training mind)

If playing chess wouldn't be difficult by itself, why don't make this sport became not only an intellectual proof, but also a phisical one. And you'll be askin why? Let's do a summary of this new and you'll see how crazy it is.

Well,  cold-water chess is a winter pursuit that consists on playing a normal game of chess but with the special thing that the rivals have to be bathing in frozen water. It may look like a crazy thing to do, but it's not that strange knowing that this kind of chess.game is played in Russia. The russians that play this tipology of chess say that it does have its benefits. They say playing in cold water helps you concentrate and lets you stay in the water for longer. He says that is a way of testing your tolerance and stamina.

These players of chess say they got the idea for cold-water chess after reading about winter swimmers who played the game in Soviet times.

The World Surf League

In the surf's Big Wawe competition, that takes place in Mexico, surfers have to ride the biggest wawes they can, some of them are truthly huge. A girl that can't love?

Hi, this term we had talked about love, so I thinck this new is so interesting because is absolutely related with this topic. This new, appart of moving me, because it's a relly big shame the problem that this girl has, make me thinck about love, and asking myself what is the role genetic has in love.

This new it's about a little girl with a rare genetic disorder that makes to the three-year-old girl unable to accept love. Their familiars say that she responds to affection only with aggression.

The doctors say taht she was born without the chromosome 22, and this Syndrome, called Phelan-McDermid Syndrome affects around 130 people in the UK and only 1,500 worldwide, affects speech, mobility and cognitive development.

“There's a lot of research linked with autism that's going on in in the UK and overseas in the US.”
Although trapped in her little body, Melody does show moments of warmth.
“She came over and she sat next to me and I just thought, ‘Have I done something, why do I deserve this?' and she passed me a paper and a pen to draw hrt a picture, it was brilliant, it was the best thing, the best affection I’ve ever had from her.”

Rebecca, the mother of this girla, says every day spent with her daughter is a gift and they've learned how to show love in their own special way. Rebecca's sharing her story to raise awareness, but she's also appealing for help from medical experts, so she can understand more about this rare disease.

Can technology make a better world?

What is technology? In my opinion, technology is the tool we create and use in order to solve a problem.

I think this is the important point, because a tool can not be good or bad. Making a simple example: a pen is created with the aim of writing. But as I said before, tools are used by humans, and is the use we make that make the difference between a good action and a bad one. Imagine someone uses a pen to kill someone. In this case everybody would agree that the murder is assassin's fault and not pen's fault. I think it happens the same with all the other technologies we have invented.

In conclusion, technology doesn't make our world better or worse, it only give us, human beings, more power to do the good or the evil. So the real problem is inside of us, it has no sense to look outside and blame the murderer's knife, because it only kills it the murderer uses it as a killer weapon.

Abstract of my Research Raper

Does poetry ever die? Have poems an expiration date? Can we write poems as the poets of the past centuries did?

My research Paper it's about our cultural legacy, it's a nostalgic and  attentive sight of the memories of an important stage of the catalan history, it's about retaking the old topics and study them with the aim of understand the thinking  of the XIXth. century intellectuals and the historical context they were in. All this learnings will be consolidated with a creative work about making this old poetry taking life again by creating three poems with the characteristics of the XIXth century.
Would a boy of the XXIth. century be able to retake the old classics?

keywords: literature, poetry, catalan culture.
